Support to European start-ups in Beijing, Chengdu and Wuhan (19 – 23 October 2015)
The twelfth activity of World Cities China consisted of the participation of four European start-ups at the International Innovation Forum for start-ups organised by Zhongguancun Innovation Centre. The purpose was to link the innovative projects and technologies directly with potential investors or industrial partners in China. The programme thus organised a business tour for selected European start-ups in Beijing, Tianjin and Wuhan from 22 to 26 October, with strong support from the Chinese NDRC, the local governments of Tianjin, Wuhan and Chengdu. The agenda included attending the Zhongguancun Innovation Week on 22 October and making a roadshow of the start-up’s technologies for 15 mins (10 mins pitching and 5 mins QA, with attendance of approx. 40-50 people). Including the Chinese start-ups, the activity involved representatives from 18 companies from following sectors: smart city, clean technologies & environment protection, internet and mobile internet, bio-med. After the presentations, the projects/technologies were scored by a panel. The best score received an award of 10,000 USD.
